Our mission is to empower students with the skills, mindsets, and awareness to take ownership of their learning so they find success and model this growth for others.
At Thrive, we offer two academic support services:
Our Services
Need a tutor who will help your child enjoy learning?
Academic Tutoring has you covered.

Academic Tutoring provides students support in their learning by answering questions, guiding students through assignments, and providing short, impromptu lessons relevant to the concepts at hand, while also fostering metacognition and a growth mindset through questions, discussions, and reflections.
Academic Tutoring has the potential to improve your student’s academic achievement, build their confidence and enjoyment of school, and shift their mindset around learning challenges.
What is it?
Our Approach
Your tutor (an experienced, certified teacher) meets with your child via videoconference for 55-minutes every week, in English or in French, to help them understand concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for assessments - all while fostering metacognition and a growth-focused mindset to increase the efficacy of the tutoring and of their learning in general.
"Growth Mindset does allow people to love what they're doing - and to continue to love it in the face of difficulties."
Carol Dweck, Mindset
Navigating your child past some tricky learning challenges?
Our Learning Coaches have your back.

Our Learning Coaches assess students’ academic struggles, identify potential foundational and contributing causes, and then guide students to develop ownership of their learning through skills, awareness, and mindsets.
What is it?
Our Approach
Over the course of five 55-minute sessions, your Learning Coach works with your child to set a goal for what they want to take away from their time working together. Then they assess the potential causes for your child's learning obstacles and guide the student in practicing skills, developing a new awareness or shifting their mindset to help them manage this challenge and take ownership of their learning.
Students will often have an activity to practice in between sessions with the support of parents in order to solidify the growth made during sessions.
"Important achievements require a clear focus, all-out effort, and a bottomless trunk full of strategies. Plus allies in learning."
Carol Dweck, Mindset
FAQs
What ages do Thrive coaches and tutors work with?
Currently, Thrive serves students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 (approximately ages 12 to 18). However, if our services seem like a good fit and you're not in that age range, please contact us and we'll see what we can do to help!
Does Thrive do in-person sessions or remote sessions?
Thrive serves students remotely through video conference and we are happy to work with students from all across Canada. We do not offer in-person sessions at this time.
Will my Thrive tutor or learning coach be in contact with my child's teacher?
For a number of reasons, it's best that parents/guardians communicate their concerns, requests, and gratitude directly to their teacher. Thrive tutors and learning coaches may offer students or parents/guardians suggestions around what to ask for if appropriate.
How much are the rates for Thrive's services?
There are a number of factors that play into this answer, but hourly rates for different services vary from $30 to $80. We encourage you to contact us so we can provide an answer that meets your particular needs.
